In short: there are no accounts and no tracking. Your progress and statistics stay in your browser, and we count how puzzles go without collecting anything that identifies you.
RangeRead has no sign-up, so we never receive your name, email address or payment details. The game loads no third-party scripts, fonts, advertising or analytics, and sets no cookies.
When a play begins we note the country and city your connection appears to come from, using a database on our own server. Your IP address is not stored and is not sent to anyone; the city is as close as it gets.
The report form at /report is the one exception. A report contains what you type, the screenshot you choose to attach, your email address if you give one, and the details of your device, browser and the day's hand so we can reproduce the problem. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated submissions; it runs only on that page. Reports are kept for 90 days.
Your progress on the current puzzle and your statistics โ puzzles played, win percentage, streaks and which street you solved on โ are stored in your browser's local storage. That data never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data for RangeRead erases it permanently, and we have no way to restore it.
To see how many people are playing and whether the puzzles are too hard, the game reports when a puzzle is opened, each guess and the colours it came back, whether it was solved and on which street, and whether the watch and share buttons were used.
These reports contain no name, account, IP address, device information or timestamp. Two random numbers travel with them: one for the play, discarded when the date changes, and one kept in your browser so that we can count how many people play and how many come back. Neither is connected to anything about you, and clearing your browser's site data replaces the second one.
Like most websites, our server records standard request logs: IP address, time, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string. We use them only to keep the site running and secure. They are not combined with gameplay statistics, not used to build a profile, and never sold or shared.
RangeRead is a puzzle game with no gambling, no money and nothing to buy. It is not directed at children under 13, and we collect no personal information from anyone.
If we ever start collecting something we do not collect today, we will update this page and the date above before that takes effect.
